Are soy wax candles better than paraffin candles?

Soy wax candles are considered a cleaner-burning alternative to paraffin candles. Paraffin is petroleum-based, whereas soy wax is derived from natural soybean oil.

At Sculptedwax, our sculptural candles are made using 100% natural soy wax, designed to burn cleanly and evenly when cared for properly. Our Vaso collection is crafted using our signature coconut and soy wax blend, offering a smooth finish and long-lasting fragrance throw.

Choosing natural wax supports a cleaner burn and a more refined ritual experience.

What is the difference between soy wax and coconut soy wax candles?

Soy wax is a natural wax derived from soybean oil and is known for its clean burn and creamy finish.

Coconut soy wax is a blend of natural coconut wax and soy wax. This blend creates a smoother surface, enhanced scent throw and an even burn — which is why we use it for our luxury Vaso scented candles.

Both options offer a cleaner alternative to traditional paraffin candles, while supporting longer-lasting self-love rituals.

How long do your luxury candles burn for?

Burn time varies depending on the candle size and style.

Our Vaso scented candles typically burn for approximately 55–70 hours when properly maintained.

Sculptural and pillar candles vary depending on how they are styled and burned, as they are designed to drip and evolve into unique forms as the wax melts.

To maximise burn time:
• Trim the wick before each use
• Allow the first burn to reach the edges
• Avoid burning your Vaso candles longer than 3–4 hours at a time

Proper care supports a longer-lasting, cleaner burn.

Are sculptural candles safe to burn?

Yes. Our sculptural candles are designed to be both admired and lit.

Each piece is hand-poured using 100% natural soy wax. As they burn, the wax will soften and drip, creating a sculptural effect. For safety, always place sculptural candles on a heat-resistant dish to catch melting wax.

Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep away from drafts, children and pets.

Why is my Vaso Candle tunnelling and how can I fix it?

Tunnelling occurs when the wax melts only around the wick, leaving wax along the edges. This usually happens when the candle is extinguished too early during the first burn.

To prevent tunnelling:
• Allow the first burn to reach the edges of the container
• Avoid short burn sessions
• Trim the wick before relighting

If tunnelling has already started, allowing the candle to burn longer during the next session can help correct the wax memory.

Do sculptural and pillar candles drip when lit?

Yes — and this is intentional.

Our sculptural and pillar candles are designed to melt and evolve as they burn. The dripping wax forms natural shapes, making each piece unique.

This transformation is part of the art and part of the ritual.

Are your candles hand-poured in Australia?

Yes. All Sculptedwax candles are hand-poured in Australia in small batches. We are proudly mum-founded and committed to crafting luxury candles that support calm, intentional living.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk candle packages?

Yes. We offer wholesale partnerships for aligned retailers and curated bulk candle packages for events, weddings and installations. You can explore our Event & Bulk page or contact us directly to discuss your needs.

Are coconut soy candles safe to burn indoors?

Yes. Our coconut and soy wax candles are designed for indoor use and burn cleanly when properly maintained.

Because we use natural wax blends rather than paraffin, they produce a cleaner burn with minimal soot when the wick is trimmed and the candle is burned correctly.

For best results:
• Trim the wick to 5mm
• Avoid drafts
• Do not burn longer than 3–4 hours (Vaso Candles)

Clean wax. Clean ritual.

Why does my candle wick mushroom?

A “mushroom” wick can form when the wick is too long or the candle has burned for extended periods.

Before relighting your candle, gently trim the wick to around 5mm. This helps maintain a steady flame and supports a clean, even burn.

Think of it as resetting the ritual.

How do I burn a sculptural body candle without ruining the shape?

First — there is no ruining it.

Our sculptural body candles are designed to transform. As the wax softens and melts, each piece evolves into something uniquely yours.

If you prefer to preserve the form, you can:
• Burn for shorter intervals
• Place it on a dish to catch wax
• Allow the wax to drip naturally

The transformation is part of the art.

Why is my candle producing smoke?

Light smoke can occur if:
• The wick is too long
• The candle is placed in a draft
• It’s burned for too long

Simply trim the wick, reposition the candle away from airflow and allow it to cool between burns.

A steady flame creates a calm atmosphere — and that’s what we’re here for.

How should I store my candles in warm weather?

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Natural wax can soften in high temperatures, but this does not affect performance once the candle resets at room temperature.

Luxury is still practical.

Are Sculptedwax candles good for gifting?

Yes — and intentionally so.

Every order includes complimentary gift wrapping and a tealight, making it easy to gift moments of calm.

Whether it’s for a new mother, a birthday or simply a reminder of self-worth, our candles are created to hold space.
